Lasagna Castle

Mrs. Campbell, VHMS Science teacher wishes to extend a thank you to Randy & Sonja Johnson, owners of the “Hometown Grocery” store in Viborg, SD.  It is through their generous donations of supplies that the 8th grade end of year project, Kingdom Wars, came to fruition.  This project was not only a fun and creative way to end the year, but allowed for creativity, critical thinking, problem solving and collaboration.

Students were tasked with creating their own Kingdom complete with a coat of arms, castle (made out of lasagna noodles), and weapon to defend.  Weapons consisted of catapults, ballista, and crossbow.   Revisited in this project was Newton’s three laws of motion and the applicability of said laws to the weapon created.   Both learning and fun took place, a winning combination!
