VHMS 6th Grade Students

The students of Viborg-Hurley Middle School were treated to an all inclusive day of fun at the Washington Pavilion.  All 94 students and 10 staff enjoyed full use of the pavilion including: Cinedome, Science Center, Art Smart Activity, and the Visual Arts Center & Tour.  Students were exposed to a variety of new things viewing fine art in a museum setting, molding clay in the studio and learning about kiln-fired pottery, using watercolor paints, and hands on Science demonstrations.  It was a day filled with new experiences and much learning took place!

The field trip was made possible through The Washington Pavilion Teacher’s Circle.  The Teacher’s Circle provides professional development to 12 regional educators in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM).  The educators that participate in the presentations and workshops get the benefit of experts in that particular field of study and a field trip for their students in the fall of 2018.  At the end of the year-long commitment, teacher participants submit lesson plans geared toward the integration of the museum with STEAM.  Mrs. Jena Campbell, Middle School Science & Reading Teacher, was selected as a participant in the 2018 Washington Pavilion Teacher’s Circle.
