How to Catch a Leprechaun at School -
Viborg-Hurley 2nd Grade
This week Ms. Porter’s Second Grade class used technology to aid instruction by creating a short video of student’s using taught skills from throughout the school year. Students highlighted their reading fluency skills by narrating and acting out scenes from the story “How to Catch a Leprechaun” by Adam Wallace. Ms. Porter’s second grade students also worked on team building skills while working in groups to complete STEM activities. During this project, students also learned about the history of Ireland and St. Patrick’s Day. To incorporate a writing component into our project, students will be working on a creative writing prompt about creating the perfect trap!

DEAR (Drop Everything and Read)
Our elementary students celebrated the joy of reading by holding a pajama day during our DEAR event. Everyone got to wear their most comfy jammies and split up into small groups where young and older readers either read their own book or shared a book with the younger readers. Everyone enjoyed the day very much.
