On Tuesday, May 10th the Viborg-Hurley 8th-grade class participated in a community service project at the city park in Davis. A community service project allows the students to witness first-hand what giving back to the community is all about. The thirty-five students along with Mrs. Harms, Mr. O’Connell, Ms. Scheidt, and Mr. Mellem worked on cleaning and painting the park. The students scraped and repainted portions of the picnic shelter, cleaned the basketball courts, added nets to the basketball hoops, painted two basketball courts, picked up sticks/branches, painted the merry-go-round, leveled the playing area around the playsets, and cleaned up any other debris around the park. The students worked four hours and concluded their day with a basketball and kickball game. A special thank you to the following businesses/individuals who supported the project:

Merchants State Bank (Hurley) - providing lunch for the students/advisors

The Town of Davis, Solace Farm, and Alice Kvigne - purchasing the painting supplies and paint

Dakota Ace Hardware (Viborg) - providing paint
