Driver's Education will begin at 8:00 am on Monday, July 27th. The class will be held in Viborg in my old office by the bathrooms on the high school end. Students are to enter through the far Southeast door by Mr. Hansen's room. Please bring a sack lunch and plan to stay until 4:00 pm.

Viborg-Hurley Start Well - Part 1 Viborg-Hurley School Community: The Viborg-Hurley School District would like to share the start of our return to school plan for the 2020-21 school year. The plan covers the basics of returning students and staff to the classrooms at Viborg-Hurley. The return to school committee is continuing work on the second part of the plan which will include further details on learning environment safety and mitigation strategies. We are planning on the first day of classes, in the buildings, will be Tuesday, August 25th. As part of our preparation for the school year, the school district is purchasing additional technology devices to have one device per student in grades K-12. We look forward to working with our school community as we prepare for the start of the upcoming school year. Viborg-Hurley Parents: The Viborg-Hurley School District is working on our return to learn plan for the 2020-21 school year. The Viborg-Hurley School District will be holding our Drivers Education program this summer. There will be limited seats in the program for social spacing reasons and we are placing a preference for students from Viborg-Hurley. 2020-21 School Year Preparations The Viborg-Hurley School District intends to keep our school community informed as we prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. We fully intend to start on time with the first day being August 25, 2020. Viborg-Hurley’s Galen Schoenefeld was honored as the Boys’ Basketball Coach of the Year by the South Dakota High School Coaches Association. Coach Schoenefeld's boys basketball team finished with a record of 19-3 and qualified for the South Dakota State Class B Boys’ Basketball Tournament, earning the third seed in the event. The Viborg Hurley Cougar Wrestling Camp will be held on July 20-22nd in Viborg. The camp is open to Viborg-Hurley students in grades 5-12. See the camp registration form for further details. https://5il.co/h9ey

The Viborg-Hurley Graduation Ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 27th at 1 pm in the high school gymnasium in Viborg. Commencement ceremony attendance will be limited to twenty guests per graduating senior to allow for social distancing. The Viborg-Hurley School District will be holding our Junior/Senior Prom on Saturday, June 20th. Grand march at 6pm with a meal and dance to follow. Prom attendees will need to have a completed waiver form to attend. https://5il.co/h4k8 Grand march will be taking place in front of the school building in Viborg and continuing down the sidewalk in front of the elementary. Social distancing will be encouraged during this event.

The 2020-21 Athletic Physical Forms are now available on the school website under Documents/Forms/Sports or by clicking on the link https://5il.co/gvis. All students in grades 7-12 participating in athletics for the 2020-21 school year are required to have an annual physical examination.

The Viborg-Hurley School District will be opening facility use to student-athletes in grades 7th – 12th (2020-21) following school issued safety guidelines as well as closely following SDHSAA Summer Contact Guidelines and CDC Safety Guidelines on June 1st. Facility use will be narrowed to weight rooms, gymnasiums, football fields, and only one set of restrooms per building. Students will need to bring their own water bottles and follow all posted guidelines while using the facilities. Parents/Guardians will need to complete and return the summer use waiver form in order for the student-athlete to have facility access. These waivers can be found on the school website or at the front doors of each building (inside the drop boxes). Coaches will be coordinating with athletes regarding use time of the facilities to allow for proper supervision. Final check-in materials day at Viborg-Hurley, Friday, May 22nd from 8am-12:30pm & 4-7pm at both building locations. Students will be checking in all school-issued reading books, textbooks, technology devices/chargers, completed assignments, etc. We are requesting all High School/Elementary materials be checked into the Viborg building and Middle School materials checked into the Hurley building.
